While I dream of having a library like this one day, in the meantime I'll be checking out my books from the public library!
I read some great books in August.
Becoming wise. An inquiry into the mystery and art of living by Krista Tippett. I listen to the podcast On Being and I've enjoyed the interviews that Krista Tippett has done and the outlook she has on life. Overall this book was really thought inspiring. My only complaint is there were sections of the book that quoted interviews and it just didn't work for me. 3/5 for format but 4/5 for content.
Here by Richard McGuire is freaking fantastic. It's a comic that shows the same house throughout different parts of time from deep time to the future. It was beautifully drawn and I absolutely loved it. I highly recommend it. 5 out of 5.
100 Interiors around the world published by Taschen. This book is interesting because it does show different interiors from around the world, but I wanted to see homes that weren't multi-million dollar homes. There were a few and those were the ones I found most interesting. What this book does show is that with the advent of this internet age everything starts to look the same. 3/5
Living Beautifully with Uncertainty and Change by Pema Chodron. Ironically as I was trying to read this book I had a lot of anxiety and it was hard to focus. This book deserves focus! I kept coming back to it and I love how accessible she makes Buddhist principles. It gives a great ground work for you to live in the here. 4/5
100 Ideas that Changed Graphic Design by Steven Heller and Veronique Vienne. I find that being an interior designer that I'm often intrigued by graphic design. Some of the design principles overlap, especially styles and colors. There were a lot of ideas that I found interesting because they were graphic design movements that were tied to historical movements. If you geek out about graphic design, then read this, if not, then give it a pass. 4/5
Posting is going to be light because I'm heading to Bulgaria! I'm so excited and I am looking forward to treasure hunting there. You can follow along on my adventure on Instagram.
