Fabric Printing Class

Ironically after I leave Wicker Park I find out about One Strange Bird. They offer a space for local artists and artisans to sell their wares and to teach classes. They offer classes in painting, mixed media, jewelry making, drawing, sewing, fabric printing, screen printing and so much more. I highly recommend you check them out because there will be a class for you.

The Hand Printed Fabrics class was taught by Nicolette Ross and she did a great job explaining how to create a design and cut the linoleum to make the stamp for your design. I made something very simple and got stamping. Once I did- I was hooked. What is great about Dabble classes is that they introduce you to things you may never think to try.

I played and had fun. I did not worry about drawing in the lines or making it look pretty because I knew this was something I was going to do again. I was simply playing with shapes and color and I did not worry about what my final product looked like.

I stopped by Blick the other night and picked up some supplies. You'll definitely see more fabric art in the future. Thanks One Strange Bird for introducing me to such a great technique.
